Into the Wilderness

Into the Wilderness

If you’ve been craving a journey into the outdoors, fortunately festival season is just around the corner. But one festival in particular promises stellar live acts, Michelin-worthy cook outs and an arts and culture programme that’d make Brian Eno blush. Wilderness Festival presents you with one saccharine and all-star line-up this August.

Set in the far reaches of Cornbury Park, Oxfordshire and taking ownership of at least two straight days August 3rd- 6th, the festival is in its seventh year. In 2012 Live UK voted the three-day festival Best Festival under 15000 capacity, no small feat given the rise and rise of pop culture inspired festivals.

But where Wilderness is special is in its cross disciplined cultural programme and equal billing of chefs and live music acts. This year sees Grace Jones, Laura Mvula, Two Door Cinema Club and Bonobo take centre stage in association with BBC Music. A stage that has been shared in previous years by everyone from Robert Plant to Lianne La Havas and Bjork to George Clinton. This year the foodies will be teased by a who’s who of food culture including Yotam Ottolenghi, Nuno Mendes and more. Institutions such as Petersham Nurseries and Angela Hartnett’s Café Murano have also joined in this year.

Serving an experience that Wilderness Festival themselves describe as “…an all-guns-blazing tour of the arts and heart-stopping delights that we have chosen to import to our paradise corner of the world”.  Going on to say, “We believe that theatre is as important as the music, the food as important as the art”.

But Wilderness Festival is far more than exhilarating beats and sublime tastes. There’s an ethos around the days of wild, with talks from partners like TATE Britain, School of Life, Frontline Club and of course additional programming around wellbeing, fitness, workshops and an area for the kids.

If you haven’t booked yet, you can visit wildernessfestival.com for furthering line-up perusing.
